Music has always had a strong ministry voice at Cargill UMC, with lots of talented members, friends and directors! Richard and Marie Severing offer a powerful musical team as Director of Music Ministries and Adult Choir Director; Brian Leeper offers his talent on organ and piano (and sometime vocals), other great volunteers assist with youth or children’s choirs.
If you have a passion for music, perhaps one of the following groups are in your future!
This adult choir rehearses each Sunday morning in the lounge at 8 a.m. and sings during Sunday morning worship services. It also prepared two large works each year with orchestra and soloists. We take the summer off, when sometimes choir members fill in as soloists with personal music selections. Please contact either Richard (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Marie Severing (email@example.com), or talk to any current member.
Men’s Choir and Women’s Choir
The smaller groups are extensions of the Cargill Choir and rehearse during the normal rehearsal time on Sunday morning.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. We play the third Sunday of each month at both services. We are always interested in training new members to play bells either as full time members or as substitutes. Please contact Richard Severing (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to give Bell Choir a try!
This is an enthusiastic senior music group who enjoys the company of each other and likes to learn something more about music. We meet Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. We occasionally sing during the Thursday noon senior meal.
If you sing, dream about singing, hum a tune or just enjoy singing with children then God is calling you to be involved with the children’s choir! Join us as we sing praises to God through song and dance.
Practice Times: Sundays 10am to 10:20am in the Chapel
Performance Times: 2nd Sunday of the month.
Although not a church organization, many of our members and directors participate in Choral Union, a community-based classical music organization (http://www.choralunionjanesville.com/).
