Welcome to the music program at Cargill United Methodist Church! Everyone in the music department loves getting together to make beautiful music and to enhance every worship service. Please take a look at some of the offerings we have and consider joining us for an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We will be starting some new programs during this year, however here are some groups that we know you would enjoy!
Wesley Chorale meets at 8:00 am on Sunday mornings and usually sings at both the 9:00 am and the 10:30 am services. We do sing a large cantata, often with orchestra, during the Christmas season and during the Easter season. At times, during our rehearsals, we form small ensembles such as quartets. We also rehearse with a women’s choir and with a men’s choir from the full choir. Our first rehearsal was on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Richard and Marie Severing would love to work with anyone that has an interest in joining this amazing choir! Please contact either Richard (email@example.com) or Marie Severing (firstname.lastname@example.org), or talk to any current member.
Bell Choir meets most Wednesday evenings at 6:30-7:30 pm. Some knowledge of reading music is needed in order to experience success with this instrumental ensemble. We usually play at both the 9:00 am and the 10:30 services on the third Sunday of each month. We have also played at the services of other community churches. Our first rehearsal this season will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Contact Richard Severing for more information.
Noteworthy Singers is a choir of more mature men and women and is a very low stress organization in which to sing. We meet every Thursday morning at 10:45-11:45 am beginning on September 15, 2016. We frequently sing grace prior to the Senior Citizen’s meal twice a month on Thursdays. We also plan to sing programs for local senior centers. The only requirements to join this group are the desire to sing and have fun getting together to spend time with each other. We just have fun! Please feel free to join us.
Choral Union is a community chorus that rehearse on Monday evenings at 7:00-9:00 pm beginning September 12, 2016. Many of the participants are members of Cargill and local churches in this greater community. Our concerts are December 3 and 4, 2016 and are accompanied by professional soloists and an orchestra. This year Choral Union is preforming an all Bach program consisting of “A Strong Hold Sure is God Our Lord”, “Magnificat”, “The Spirit Also Helpeth Us”, “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Brandenburg Concert #3”. Anyone is welcome to join us at our first rehearsal or contact Richard Severing for more information. (http://www.choralunionjanesville.com/).
